About Me

Somia is a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist, specialising in trauma and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). EMDR therapy is a unique, non-traditional form of psychotherapy designed to diminish negative feelings.

Somia is experienced in offering CBT sessions for individuals and insurers to provide assessments for insurance purposes. She has also spent many years supporting employers and their staff in high stress related jobs, and allowing them to achieve their full potential, both in and out of the workplace.

 

Qualifications & Experience

Somia has an undergraduate degree in Psychology, a Post graduate certificate in Mental Health and a Master of Science degree in Cognitive Behaviour Psychotherapy. She is a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist who has many years’ experience working with depression and anxiety disorders. In 2017, Somia trained in EMDR to Level 3 and has specialised in trauma ever since.

Previously in her career, Somia has worked for the NHS before setting up her own practice in 2013. She also held the position of High Intensity Therapy Lead for 4 years at Mental Health Matters, Warrington and more recently founded an organisation to support the mental health of children called ‘Betta Minders, Brighter Future’.
